My Neighbor Covered My Car in Concrete Because It “Blocked Her Lake View” — Then My 8-Year-Old Daughter Made Her Smile Disappear

“The men. The one with the clipboard.”

I turned.

Two men were standing on Valerie’s front steps. One wore a city shirt and was taping an orange notice to her door. The other was speaking angrily on his phone.

Valerie’s face went pale.

“Oh God, no.”

“What did you do?” I whispered to Olivia.

“I told Mr. Harold what happened,” she said calmly. “This morning, Valerie was on her phone telling the concrete people that the driveway was hers and they should come at four.”

She took another sip of juice.

“But she gave them our address.”

I stared at her.

Harold appeared at the edge of his yard, holding his folder.

The concrete supervisor stormed toward Valerie.

“We were told this pour was on your property. You lied to my crew.”

He played a recording of Valerie giving the instructions.

The city inspector then stepped forward.

“We also need to discuss the unpermitted work and those statues on public easement land.”

Valerie tried to defend herself.

“She provoked me! Her car was ruining everything!”

Nobody answered.
