“Document everything. Don’t confront her. Just record it.”
Then he smiled.
“And keep parking that Chevy right where it is.”
I did.
A few days later, I came home from work and saw a concrete mixer in front of my house.
Gray concrete was pouring directly onto my Chevrolet.
I froze.
Then I saw Valerie standing on her lawn, smiling.
“I guess you’ve finally learned your lesson,” she said. “Now you’ll park that junk somewhere else.”
My hands shook as I pulled out my phone.
Then the screen door opened.
Olivia stepped onto the porch holding a juice box.
She looked at the truck, then at Valerie—and winked at me.
“Baby, get back inside,” I said.
“In a minute, Mom.”
She walked toward Valerie.
“Ma’am, I’m sorry, but I think something is happening to your porch.”

Valerie frowned. “What are you talking about?”
Olivia pointed.
