Emily.
The pregnancy.
The money.
She listened without interrupting.
When I finished, she studied the printed statements spread across the table.
“You need to speak with a lawyer,” she said.
“I don’t even know whether I’m ready for a divorce.”
“You don’t have to decide that today. But you need to understand your legal and financial options.”
She was right.
Still, part of me wanted to hear Tucker explain himself.
He arrived home that evening looking exhausted.
Maya offered to stay, but I asked her to wait nearby while we talked.
When Tucker entered the kitchen, his eyes immediately went to the dining table.
“Is my presentation folder here?”
I stared at him.
Of all the things he could have said, that was the first.
“It’s on the table.”
He picked it up.
“Martin is furious. I missed the flight, and he had to arrange for someone else to handle the presentation using the files from the office system.”
