“Why is everybody getting involved?”
I looked at him.
“Because you made sure they could hear you earlier.”
Nobody laughed this time.
“Why is everybody getting involved?”
Curtis turned toward Lucas.
“Sir, I warned you about respecting her personal space.”
Lucas reached into his bag.
“Fine!”
He pulled out his shirt and put it on.
“There. Happy?”
Curtis shook his head.
“Fine!”
“The issue isn’t simply what you’re wearing.”
Lucas looked genuinely surprised.
“Then what’s the problem?”
I couldn’t believe he was asking.
“You kept pressing against me after I asked you to stop.”
I couldn’t believe he was asking.
“It’s a crowded train!”
“Yes, Lucas. We’re all sitting on the same crowded train.”
He opened his mouth, then closed it.
Curtis asked for his ticket.
“What for?”
“I need the details for an incident report.”
