My Son and I Secretly Got on My Pilot Husband’s Flight to Surprise Him — Then He Said Something Over the Speakers That Made Us Both Stop Smiling

I wanted to stand up. I wanted to march toward the front of the plane and demand that Tyler explain himself.

But Mason was watching me.

So I took a breath, forced my voice to remain steady, and said, “Let’s wait until we land, okay?”

He nodded, although his eyes had already filled with tears.

I reached for the drawing, hoping to fold it before he could look at it again.

Instead, he pulled it against his chest.

“I made this for him,” he whispered. “I thought he would be happy.”

That broke something inside me.“Before we take off, I’d like to do something I’ve never done on a flight before,” Tyler said. “There is a very special person on this plane tonight. Someone who means absolutely everything to me.”

Mason whipped his head toward me.

His eyes went huge.

“He knows!”

For half a second, I thought he was right.
