My Sister Always Said Her Husband Treated Her like a Queen – Then I Saw Him Take Her Credit Card at Dinner

I stared at her.

“What?”

Rachel swallowed.

Then she spoke so quietly I almost didn’t hear her.

“I haven’t had access to our accounts in almost two years.”

Before I could respond, the restroom door opened.

Rachel stepped away from me so fast that her hip hit the counter.

A woman from the restaurant walked in, glanced at us, and headed for a stall.

Rachel immediately turned on the faucet.

I stared at her reflection.

She wouldn’t look at me.

For the next few seconds, the only sound between us was running water.

Then Rachel grabbed a paper towel.

“We should go back.”

“No.”

Her eyes lifted to mine.

“Marissa.”

“You just told me you haven’t had access to your own money in almost two years.”

“Keep your voice down.”

That scared me more than anything else she had said.

Rachel had never asked me to be quiet in her life.

She had always been the louder one.

The woman in the stall flushed the toilet.

Rachel pressed her lips together.

I waited until the woman washed her hands and left.

Then I looked directly at my sister.

“Tell me what’s happening.”

Rachel’s shoulders dropped.

For a moment, she looked exhausted.

Not tired from dinner.

Tired in a way I hadn’t noticed before.

“David handles everything,” she said.

“What does that mean?”
