My husband underwent a vasectomy, and yet two months later I became pregnant. He called me a traitor, left me for another woman… but he had no idea that the biggest shock was waiting for him in the ultrasound.
When I saw two pink lines on the pregnancy test, I burst into tears.
Not because I was scared.
But because I was happy.
I thought it was a miracle.
My hands were shaking when I was holding the test and I ran to the kitchen to find Diego. He sat there drinking coffee as if nothing in the world could shake his false sense of peace.
“I’m pregnant,” I said, and my voice stuck in my throat with emotion.
Diego didn’t smile.
He didn’t hug me.
He didn’t even ask if everything was okay.
He just slowly put the cup of coffee on the table and looked at me with cold eyes, as if he had just discovered something disgusting in his own home.
“That’s impossible.”
It squeezed me in the throat.
“What do you mean?”
