Two days before Harlow & Finch opened its doors, Colette invited us to a private dinner.
I nearly said no. Grant didn’t push me either way, and that, more than anything, was part of why I finally said yes.
PART 9
The restaurant was beautiful. Warm wood, cream walls, plants angled toward tall windows. Not extravagant. Thoughtful.
Priya Nash greeted us at the entrance — finally, in person, the mysterious bookkeeper whose unanswered calls had cost me a week of suspicion. She was energetic, somewhere in her fifties, and completely unaware her voicemails had caused any speculation at all.
“I’m so glad Grant finally called me back,” she said.
I looked at him. “You did?”
“Yesterday.”
Priya smiled. “I just needed his updated address for the guarantee release paperwork.”
That was it. The mysterious calls. An address.
I almost laughed out loud. Real life rarely cooperates with suspense the way you expect it to.
