She Has Never Been Too Concerned With Looking Perfect
The casual nature of the video also fits with comments McCarthy made years earlier about getting older and becoming more comfortable with herself. In a 2018 interview with TODAY, McCarthy reflected on turning 40 and said, “Being in my 40s is such a great relief. I know myself better than I ever have.”
She added, “I don’t worry about what the perception is. There’s always going to be people that don’t like something you’re doing. As you get older, you can step into that and not be worrying about it.”
At the time, McCarthy also made it clear that perfection was not something she was chasing, either personally or as a parent. “I’ve always said, ‘You don’t have to be perfect to be exceptional.’ I want them to follow their heart,” she said.
That attitude makes her latest weekend video feel particularly on-brand: There is no glamorous setup, elaborate styling, or attempt to turn a household chore into something more polished than it is. Instead, there is McCarthy, a hair dryer and a collection of wigs.

The wigs themselves are hardly a random part of McCarthy’s Saturday routine. During a Bullseye with Jesse Thorn interview, McCarthy explained that her fascination with wigs began before she joined The Groundlings, the Los Angeles improv theater where she met her husband, Ben Falcone.
