Mark Consuelos Followed His Own Professional Path
While Ripa became a major daytime television personality, Consuelos continued developing his career as an actor.
He remained connected to television but gradually took on different kinds of roles.
For viewers who remembered him primarily from All My Children, his later work offered an opportunity to see another side of his acting ability.
One particularly recognizable role came with Riverdale, where he portrayed Hiram Lodge.
The character was far removed from the romantic soap-opera image that had introduced Consuelos to many viewers.
His work on the series helped introduce him to a younger audience and demonstrated his ability to reinvent himself professionally.
That evolution is significant.
Actors don’t necessarily remain locked into the roles that first make them famous.
Sometimes the most interesting parts of their careers begin when audiences least expect them.
When Their Careers Came Together Again
Although Ripa and Consuelos maintained separate professional identities, they eventually found another major opportunity to work together.
Consuelos became her co-host on Live with Kelly and Mark.
