I Thought My Fiancé Had Died—Then I Saw Him Standing at His Own Wedding

“She was afraid of what would happen if Adrian came back.”

I couldn’t understand.

“Why would she be afraid of her own son?”

Before Julian could answer, the music changed.

The wedding ceremony was beginning.

Everyone turned toward the entrance.

Then the doors opened.

And Adrian walked into the room.

Alive.

Healthy enough to walk.

Dressed in a dark suit.

Beside his mother.

The guests applauded.

I couldn’t move.

Adrian looked across the room.

His eyes found mine.

For one brief second, his face changed.

He looked shocked.

Then he looked away.

As though he didn’t know me.

As though we had never loved each other.

The ceremony began.

I watched from behind the floral arrangements.

Adrian stood beside a woman I had never met.

She looked nervous but happy.

She had no idea what was happening around her.

The officiant spoke, but I barely heard anything.

All I could hear was my heartbeat.

Then the bride took Adrian’s hand.

He smiled at her.

I almost walked forward.

I almost told everyone the truth.

But something stopped me.

A small scar behind Adrian’s right ear.

I knew that scar.

He had gotten it as a teenager.

I had teased him about it countless times.

There was no doubt.

It was really him.

Then I noticed another detail.

A faint scar around his left ring finger.

I had never seen it before.
