Bright.
Smelled like industrial cleaner.
But it was legal.
Irvin immediately began the process of getting our garage properly approved.
Then he placed his phone beside mine.
“If Vanessa wants these messages discussed at the HOA meeting, we’ll bring them.”
“All of them?”
“All of them. No cropping.”
When Vanessa texted,
Are you ready to do the right thing?
I answered with three words.
We’ll be there.
At the HOA meeting, Vanessa spoke first.
She presented herself as a lonely divorced woman who had simply accepted help from a friendly neighbor before being publicly humiliated by his jealous wife.
She mentioned my bakery violation.
Then she mentioned the messages.
When she finished, I stood.
“She’s right about the garage.”
Vanessa’s head snapped toward me.
I continued.
“It wasn’t approved for commercial use. That was our mistake. I stopped using it, refunded customers, rented a licensed kitchen, and started the proper approval process.”
