That explains why the lifeguards in my situation reacted so quickly.

## Why Would Lifeguards Suddenly Close the Water?
One of the most confusing parts of the situation was how quickly everything changed.

For parents, this can be especially alarming because children may not understand why they suddenly have to stop swimming.
That is why following lifeguard instructions is so important.
Even if the water looks calm and harmless, lifeguards may have information that beachgoers cannot see from the shore.
