“He made tremendous progress and was included in the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. While we were in the United States, we were informed about the loss of his grandmother. We were then shocked and saddened to hear of Jayden’s passing this weekend.

“It is a huge loss to his family, Stellenbosch, Mamelodi Sundowns and South African football. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

“My deepest condolences to the family of Jayden. It is with great disbelief that I heard the news. There are no words to express my sadness,” said Broos.

“As a father, I send the family my support during these difficult moments. Bafana Bafana has lost a great talent far too soon. May his soul rest in peace.”

Bafana Bafana team manager Vincent Tseka admitted he was still struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

“I am still in shock and do not know how to digest this tragedy. Honestly, I have no words,” he said.

Tributes continue to pour in from team-mates, clubs, supporters and the wider football community as South Africa mourns one of its brightest young talents.
